Premium Film, Applied Properly

Paint protection film is a high grade clear or coloured thermoplastic polyurethane applied directly to the surface of your vehicle. It shields the paint from daily road hazards such as stone chips, scratches and environmental contaminants, and it is the only product that genuinely stops physical impact damage.

Modern film is a laminate rather than a single sheet. A clear elastomeric top coat handles gloss, stain resistance and self healing, a thick urethane body absorbs impact energy, and a pressure sensitive adhesive holds it securely for years then releases cleanly when a professional removes it.

Where a ceramic coating defends chemically against UV and contamination, film is a physical barrier. Many owners run both, and this page explains the film types, coverage levels and installation process so you can decide what suits your vehicle.

The Gold Standard In Vehicle Protection

For enthusiasts, collectors and everyday drivers keen to keep a showroom finish, film is the strongest protection available. Here is what it actually does, and what it does not.

Select a benefit to learn more

Stone Chip Protection

Tap to read

A chip is not just cosmetic. It breaks the clear coat and colour layer, exposing primer or bare metal, and that is where corrosion starts years later. Film absorbs the impact so it never reaches the paint.

Self Healing Top Coat

Tap to read

The top coat is elastomeric, meaning it remembers its original shape. Light scratches deform it rather than tearing it, and warmth from sunlight or an engine bay lets the mark close up and disappear.

UV Ray Protection

Tap to read

Queensland UV fades and oxidises paint year round. Film blocks it at the surface, so the colour underneath holds rather than flattening over successive summers.

Bug Acid and Droppings

Tap to read

Bug residue and bird droppings are acidic and etch unprotected clear coat, sometimes within hours in summer heat. On film the damage stops at a surface that can be replaced.

Preserves Resale Value

Tap to read

Original factory paint intact at resale is worth considerably more than repainted panels. Film keeps the paint underneath in the condition it left the factory in.

What It Will Not Do

Tap to read

Film does not protect against collision damage, deep gouges or existing rust, and it cannot hide defects already in the paint. Anything present at installation gets sealed underneath, which is why preparation matters.

Which Film Is Right for Your Car?

Coverage decides where the film goes. Film type decides how it looks and how it performs. Both matter, and most owners only think about the first one until it is explained.

Most Popular

Clear Gloss Film

The standard choice and the one most people picture. A high clarity film with a glossy top coat that matches factory paint, so it disappears against the panel once installed.

  • Virtually invisible on gloss paint
  • Self healing top coat
  • Can enhance depth and clarity
  • Suits any colour
Finish Change

Matte and Satin Film

The same protective construction with a matte or satin top coat. It can preserve an existing factory matte finish, or convert gloss paint to matte without a respray.

  • Protects factory matte paint properly
  • Converts gloss to matte, reversibly
  • Same impact protection as gloss film
  • Needs matte specific aftercare
Colour Change

Coloured Film

Protection and a colour change in one step. Because it is film rather than paint, the factory finish underneath stays original and the change can be reversed at resale.

  • Changes colour without a respray
  • Original paint preserved underneath
  • Removable by a trained installer
  • Wide range of finishes available
Targeted

Headlight and Trim Film

Smaller format film for the parts that suffer most and cost most to replace. Headlights in particular yellow and pit over time, and a replacement unit is rarely cheap.

  • Guards headlights against pitting
  • Protects door edges and handle cups
  • Covers sills and boot load lips
  • Inexpensive, high value protection
Not sure which to choose? Film type and coverage are decided together at your free consultation. We look at your paint, ask how and where you drive, and recommend a combination rather than selling you the largest option. Every film we install is SunTek, chosen for clarity, durability and self healing performance in Australian conditions.

Choose Your Level Of PPF Coverage

From high impact front end protection through to full body coverage, we tailor every installation to your vehicle and how you use it. Our team recommends the right coverage based on your driving, your budget and your protection goals.

Custom Coverage

Full Body PPF

The ultimate in paint protection. Full body coverage wraps every painted panel in a seamless shield of self healing film, protecting against stone chips, scratches, environmental contaminants and UV damage.

Ideal for prestige and high performance vehicles where preserving the original finish is the priority, and for anyone keeping a car long term.

Partial Front PPF

Protects the highest impact areas of your vehicle: the leading edge of the bonnet, front bumper, front guards and side mirrors. These zones take the brunt of stone chips and road debris on Brisbane roads.

The most affordable entry point for drivers who want meaningful protection where it counts, without committing to full body coverage.

Front End Package

Full bonnet, full front bumper, front guards, mirrors and headlights. Because the bonnet is covered end to end, there is no cut line across it, which is the detail owners notice most.

The most common choice for daily drivers who cover real distance on freeways and highways, where stone chip risk is highest.

Custom Coverage

Not every car is alike, and neither is every owner. Custom coverage lets us design a plan around your vehicle, how you drive it and the areas you want prioritised.

Common additions include door edges, handle cups, sills and the boot load lip, which cover the damage owners tend to cause themselves rather than the road.

Our Paint Protection Film Brisbane Installation Process

Film is only as good as the surface it goes onto and the hands that apply it. Contamination trapped underneath shows up as specks that never come out, so every install follows the same six stages in a controlled, enclosed workshop.

01

Consultation and Quote

Tap to read

We look at your vehicle, discuss how and where you drive, and recommend a film type and coverage level to match. You leave with an itemised quote. Nothing is booked until you have approved it.

02

Decontamination and Correction

Tap to read

A full decontamination wash, iron fallout and tar removal, and a clay bar treatment. Any swirl marks are machine polished out first, because film seals in whatever is underneath it. Existing film is removed along with its adhesive.

03

Pattern and Precision Cutting

Tap to read

Film is cut to your vehicle's exact panel patterns rather than trimmed on the car, which protects the paint from blade contact. Where a panel allows, patterns are oversized so edges can be wrapped out of sight.

04

Application and Squeegee

Tap to read

Each panel is sprayed with slip solution so the film can be positioned, then squeegeed from the centre out to drive the moisture and air out. Complex curves are heat formed so the film conforms without stretching marks.

05

Edge Wrapping and Curing

Tap to read

Edges are wrapped or tucked wherever the panel allows so there is no visible line. The vehicle then rests while the adhesive cures and residual moisture clears. Any faint haze at handover disappears during this period.

06

Inspection and Handover

Tap to read

Every panel is checked under specialist lighting for contamination, lifting edges and clarity before we hand the keys back. We walk you through the curing period and aftercare so the film performs for the life of the vehicle.

Pair Your Film With Other Services

Film handles physical impact. A ceramic coating handles UV, chemical contamination and gloss across the whole car, and it can be applied over the top of film. Most customers who want complete protection run both.

Frequently Asked Questions

A clear or coloured thermoplastic polyurethane film applied directly to the exterior of a vehicle. It acts as a physical shield against stone chips, minor abrasions and environmental contaminants, keeping the paint underneath in original condition.
Clear gloss film for an invisible finish, matte and satin film to preserve or create a matte look, coloured film for a reversible colour change, and smaller format film for headlights, door edges and other high wear areas. We will recommend a combination at your consultation.
High quality film can last anywhere from 5 to 10 years, depending on environmental conditions, maintenance and the film itself. SunTek films come with warranties that reflect their longevity, and our team will confirm the specific warranty for your chosen film during the consultation.
Properly installed clear film is virtually invisible and does not change the appearance of the paint. It can enhance clarity and depth. What people notice is poor installation, not the film itself, which is why edges are wrapped or tucked wherever the panel allows.
The top coat does. Light surface scratches and swirl marks close up with heat from sunlight or warm water. Deep cuts that go through the top coat will not heal, though the film has still done its job by stopping the damage at a replaceable surface rather than your paint.
Yes, when it is quality film removed by someone who knows what they are doing. The adhesive is designed to release with controlled heat and will not leave residue. Cheap film is where problems occur, because it can tear and leave adhesive behind.
Film is physical and absorbs impact, so it is the only one that stops stone chips. A coating is chemical, bonds to the paint, and defends against UV, contamination and etching across the whole vehicle while making it far easier to wash. For maximum protection many customers combine both.
Yes, and we recommend it. A coating over film gives you the impact protection of the film with the hydrophobic, chemical resistant surface of the coating, and it makes the film easier to keep clean. Our team can advise the right combination for your vehicle.
The front bumper, bonnet, front guards, side mirrors and headlights take the most damage, so a front end package is the usual starting point. Door edges, handle cups and the boot load lip are inexpensive additions that cover the damage owners tend to cause themselves.
Usually yes. Film seals in whatever is underneath it, so swirl marks and contamination present at installation stay there permanently. Every vehicle we film goes through decontamination and correction first. If a quote you have received does not mention preparation, ask why.
One to two weeks depending on the scope of coverage. Full body installations take longer than partial front packages, and vehicles needing more correction take longer again. Your installer will confirm the timeframe at booking, and loan cars are available.
Yes, we have more than 30 loan cars available across our three studios. Mention it at the time of booking and we will arrange one for the duration of your installation.
Our Brisbane studio is at 6/210 Robinson Rd E, Geebung QLD 4034. We also have studios on the Gold Coast (3/4 Telford Place, Arundel QLD 4214) and in Melbourne (6/52 Corporate Blvd, Bayswater VIC 3153). See our locations page for hours.
Pricing varies with the vehicle, the coverage selected and the film used, so every job is quoted individually after an assessment. Contact our team for a tailored quote and we will walk you through the options.
Avoid washing during the recommended curing period. After that, hand washing with pH neutral products is all that is needed. Avoid automatic brush car washes, which are the fastest way to mark any protected surface. Your installer will provide specific aftercare at handover.
Compare what is included, the film brand and warranty, and the installer's accreditation before deciding. Dealership packages often use entry level products and may not be installed by trained specialists. Bring the paperwork in and we will tell you honestly what you have.
