How much does ceramic coating cost? For a brand new vehicle, professional ceramic coating starts at approximately $1,500 for sedans, hatchbacks and coupes, and approximately $2,000 for dual cab utes, SUVs and larger vehicles. Those are starting points rather than final numbers, because the single biggest variable is not the coating itself. It is the condition of the paint underneath it. Below is a plain explanation of what you are paying for, what moves the price, and how to work out roughly where your car will land before you pick up the phone.
Factors Influencing Price
Two quotes for the same car can differ by a thousand dollars, and the gap is almost never the bottle of coating. It is the hours of work that happen before the coating goes on, and the standard the installer holds themselves to.
- Preparation hours. Decontamination, clay bar treatment and machine polishing are labour intensive and account for the bulk of the cost on most vehicles.
- Vehicle size. More panels means more surface area to correct and coat, and it scales directly into the quote.
- Paint condition. A car with heavy swirling or oxidation needs multiple correction stages. A new car in good order needs far less.
- Coating tier. Entry level products cost less and last less. Premium accredited systems cost more and are engineered for years, not months.
- Add on surfaces. Wheels, glass, leather and fabric can all be treated. Each adds work and cost, and each is optional.
- What comes after. A warranty tied to the product and an ongoing maintenance plan carry real value that a bare quote does not show.
Vehicle Size And Condition
Size is the easy part. A sedan, hatch or coupe sits at the lower end of the range. A dual cab ute, a large SUV or an American import has considerably more panel area, so it takes longer to correct and coat and it prices accordingly.
Condition is where quotes really separate. On a brand new car the paint is usually close to ready, so preparation is comparatively light. On an older vehicle, or one that has spent years in the sun and been through automatic car washes, the paint may need several correction stages before it is fit to coat. Those hours attract additional cost, and there is no way around it. A coating bonds permanently, so any swirl or defect left in the paint is locked in underneath it for the life of the coating.
Worth noting on new cars: brand new does not always mean perfect. Vehicles sit in yards, get handled repeatedly, and travel on trucks and ships for months before delivery. Type Of Coating Chosen
Not all coatings are the same product at different prices. They sit in genuinely different tiers, and the tier you choose sets both what you pay and how long the result lasts.
- Paint sealant. The cheapest option and the shortest lived, at three to six months. A step up from wax, not a substitute for a coating.
- Entry level coating. One to two years of protection. Where most consumer kits sit.
- Mid range professional coating. Three to five years, and a sensible middle ground for a daily driver.

Divide the price by the years of protection and the premium tier usually looks better than it does on the quote. A cheap coating redone three times over six years is rarely the cheaper path once you count the preparation each time.

- Used or older vehicles: quoted after assessment. Paint correction is priced on the condition of the paint and the number of stages required.
- Additional surfaces: quoted separately. Wheels, glass, leather and fabric protection can be added to any package.
